Caroline Mathias
Our Team
Caroline Mathias - Expert Teacher
Caroline is a dancer and teacher from Herefordshire, who spent nearly 12 years living and working in Buenos Aires where she was fully immersed in tango dance, music and poetry. She spent 6 years dancing with DNI Tango, a dance company and tango school recognised around the world for the quality of its teaching and its friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Students returned year after year to work with the diverse, passionate team of dancers and it was a wonderful experience creatively and professionally.
Learning tango as a migrant, she also studied social, cultural and music history at CETBA (the University of Tango), and is passionate about bringing this into her teaching in Europe as we embrace Argentine folk culture. Her tango is inclusive, progressive and open to all. Having grown up in a rural area, she is delighted to bring her experience back to smaller communities and is excited to see Loud River Tango grow!

Yvonne Fisher - Teacher
Yvonne started dancing tango in London over 10 years ago before relocating to Ludlow. She co-founded Loud River Tango in February 2025, helping bring friendly, inclusive tango classes to an area of the UK that had lacked tango tuition for some time. She loves being part of the LRT team, and is endlessly fascinated by how much she continues to learn from the other teachers and students alike.
Nina Tranter - Teacher and TDJ
Trained in multiple modalities of bodywork, movement, and therapeutic practices, Nina has studied, worked and taught in many countries around the world as well as the UK.
Her background in music includes performing with a variety of orchestras and receiving private training with one of Decca Records' leading producers. This has given a deep appreciation and understanding of the richness and nuance of tango music. It is a privilege to continue expanding that knowledge through studies with Bruce Cannon and Caroline Mathias.
Love of tango and its music, combined with extensive visits to Argentina, has made it an honour to curate playlists and milongas for Loud River tango, of which she is a co-founder . Listening to the way music is selected in Argentina, alongside studying dance, musicality, and the culture of tango, has provided invaluable first-hand insight into this unique and captivating world.
She is passionate about creating musical journeys that inspire dancers and, using dance development techniques in classes that honour the traditions of Argentine tango, and enhance every tango experience.
Ian Turner - Traditional TDJ
Ian has danced tango for over 10 years and in the last few years has focused almost entirely on tango. His love of traditional tango music has led him to learning about the famous, and in some cases less famous, tango orchestras and more recently into DJing some local milongas and prácticas.
